Pissed off Pete's and Beyond!

She is the number one fan... always there... never leaving... waiting for you to come and play... she has her head in the subwoofer just so she can be in the front row...

Benson Bus. San Francisco, California @ 15th and Vermont

There have been a slew of shows this past weekend with the mobile venue known as the "Benson Bus". Perhaps the best show was Saturday's. Shon did a solo set for the first time in a while without his injured wrist. Margot with her "ravesploitation" outfit IE made the 6 hour trek from Koreatown in socal with hype man Kyle H Mabson. Here is some footage of the Learned Helplessness set:

the show started around 9 as opposed to the night before... which I think started at 1130? this show ended with "Jewel of the Nile" a thill/allen/mabson/blanco line up which prolly should have been the Riverside Jam All Stars instead ennit?

stay tuned for footage from Huffin House...

Bay Hags

Had a great summer.
Hey we here at BayHags are finishing up school, just starting school, making paintings, giving art talks, starting new bands, playing too many shows, traveling, going on tour, making beer, kicking ourselves in the teeth for not bringing a tape recorder or camera to an awesome show we attended, and just plain dealing with life. I am uploading some recent videos to the internet world right now but I've noticed we haven't collectively been able to be as active with this project as when we excitedly started this. I'm opening up the floor so that we don't appear to be the snobs that we actually are. If you have any video, audio, photos from the past 6 months or so send us a link to this material with a brief description of the show. We prefer that the music be of the "underground" variety... be it hip hop, jazz, punk or experimental or bluegrass or whatever. We just don't want yr youtube video of Pearl Jam in Golden Gate Park from last month... even though I heard that shit was decent. Oh yeah... the material should also be of a show that happened in the Bay Area. Keep doing yr shit, keep attending shows and pitch that 5 bucks in the bucket whenever you can afford it.

100 years of Purple House

A bunch of people were dressed like it was 1909, there was a kissing booth, cutouts to put your face in but have a different body, and pizza. Here's pictures of other stuff that happened at the Purple House's 100th birthday.

Apgar July 23 2009

Bands that played: Brotman and Short, Work, Dark Lingo (Pittsburg)and The Amazements (L.A.)

Brotman and Short:

As my friend that came said, they're light set up makes it look like the house lights are continually shorting out-- with intent that is.
More videos from this show will be added to this post eventually.
But since this is an Apgar related post, I thought that I would use it as an excuse to post this one of Trouble from earlier this summer/late spring...

Benson Bus shows.

thursday July 16th @ Berkeley Bulb
There was alot of Hay Stack climbing at this show. Apparently a tradition that was started at another bus show earlier in the week (last week that is).

During the Pteradactyl (Brooklyn) set, the Benson Bus became obsessed with trying to run over an office chair:

On the ride back home, Coleman Hawkins came up from the grave a played a set to a rainbow dolphin:

July 19th, 2009 San Francisco @ Tire Beach and then Irving in the nomans land of showplace plaza east of CCA.

Chen Santa Maria and Gowns were able to play before the cops came. They came 4 cars deep with out headlights on at 60 mph, narrowly missing Dalton Blanco, who at the time, was of course trying to set up the perfect photo. They were very aggressive and swarmed all around everybody with bright flashlights. One cop was using his flash light to try and find fresh graffiti. Here is my exchange with that cop:
"Hey man, don't worry.... we haven't been tagging this area up. We're not that type"
angrilly, the cop replies: "Did we accuse you of this?!"
me: "You're acting like you want to"
cop: "Get that fucking bus out of here right now!"

Well anyhow! the bus was moved somewhere onto Irving street east of the CCA campus.

Human Hands:

I did also capture footage of half of the song, "Changes" by Base of Bass. I decided to not include it because that song is on our last post. You can search for it on you tube if you want to see it.

Here is footage of Base of Bass', "Changes" which is out now on their self released tape... It wasn't just High Castle's record release show after all. Jesse continually is getting shocked from the microphone and horn setup.
